About us

Mrs. Nicky Day-Anderson is the Owner of Amatus Kids Academy and has been actively involved since 2006 with researching and implementing her “parent centric” curriculum and expanding the Child Care services to a flexible schedule facility.  Over the years we have cared for hundreds of children from infants to 12 years of age. We strictly comply with or exceed all licensing regulations and are in the process of completing our final registrations at our Head Office in Gie Road, Table View.

We are a Christian based school and our Passion and Love for Children is our driving force as we know how important Early Childhood development is. We have selected care givers who will inspire, enthuse and encourage your little ones to the highest levels of their ability, to maximise their true potential.

When you join our Academy you become part of our family here at Amatus and to me that is a very important part of our lives to be able to have faith, love, caring, trust and the respect of one another. I truly believe that a child’s education should be a happy experience. From their first steps towards independent life, our children develop the skills to grasp the many opportunities we offer, the confidence to realise their potential, and the independence which prepares them for future life.

School days should be among the most rewarding days of your child’s life and within our stimulating and secure environment we provide a rich experience academically, culturally and spiritually. We embrace our Centre’s motto “Amatus Kids Academy” – we love children – and do our best for every child in our care. We take great pride in our children's achievements.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Family child care in a “home like” setting is the best alternative there is for working parents. It provides a small secure environment for children during the most important time of their development. Family child care offers a home away from home, providing children with “siblings” of all ages, to play, socialize, and learn from. Our goal in providing quality child care for your child is to provide:

  • A nurturing environment
  • A learning environment… learning is not necessarily the ABC’s and 123’s, but is also the learning of values. The learning of honesty, respect, self–reliance, and potential, self-discipline, and moderation, the values of being; dependable, love, sensitivity to others, kindness, friendliness and fairness are the values of giving
  • A centre with a safe, secure, and controlled environment.
  • A centre where your child will be stimulated, disciplined and loved
  • Healthy and hygienic conditions and deep sanitising on a daily basis.
  • Recreational facilities to develop your child’s physical abilities.
  • Onsite First Aid
  • Experienced and Qualified Staff
  • Christian Principles
  • Homework assistance and supervision
  • Healthy home cooked breakfast, lunch and beverages
  • Transport can be arranged

The Amatus Kids Academy approach to childcare is based on our partnerships with all parents. Parents are encouraged to take an active part in every aspect of their child’s care. Amatus Kids Academy aims to promote a positive attitude towards childcare, as well as the responsibility and professionalism of its child minders.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to give the children of Amatus Kids Academy that vital head start for their successful lives in the future South Africa, by pursuing the following clear purpose:

  • Answer to the substantial demand for pre-primary education and care
  • Provide the children with balanced nutrition that is a crucial factor in the physical and mental development of youth in their early life stages.
  • Teach children personal hygiene and care and important life skills
  • Teach our children love, compassion, understanding and caring

We follow the National Early childhood Development curriculum (CAPS) and pride ourselves on nurturing and stimulating children at this crucial development period. The nature of teaching in the early years is unlike that of any other age group.

Play forms the foundation of the Amatus Kids Academy programme. In our play rich environment, your child will:

  • learn about themselves;
  • learn what words to use when asking for something;
  • Learn important life skills
  • How to tie a shoe and get dressed
  • What primary & secondary colours are;
  • Colours & Shapes;
  • Days of the week & months;
  • How to be a friend and so much more.....

Play helps children define who they are and involves singing, creative activities, fantasy play and sharing. Play is therefore the cornerstone of learning, the foundation from which children venture forth to investigate and test. Our loving care givers plan a curriculum, that includes play as a medium for learning and as children grow, they integrate and assimilate their play experiences. What starts out as play and sheer fun is transformed into learning experiences.

We believe that through a play based programme we meet and develop a whole child, a child who is physically, Emotionally, Cognitively, Socially and Spiritually ready to face and meet the challenges of formal learning. Lastly, we implement a school policy which is caring and empathetic, and which respects each individual’s needs, dignity and rights.
